There’s hard science backing our findings, which may be part of a meta-level shift in our understanding in the relationship between our behaviour, our health and our environment. This ecosystem-based ‘lens’ which healthcare can be viewed is a useful concept when attempting to change the behaviour or lifestyle of patients in a positive manner, especially in the context of complex co-morbidities such as obesity.

The rigid, linear and quantifiable benchmark for success currently looks like within the NHS is unlikely to yield positive outcomes in the long-term without implementing a more holistic approach to supporting patients, their families and their environment.
